An amazing, gnarled Hornbeam tree in Epping Forest

A close up video of an epic and beautiful and heavily pollarded Hornbeam tree in Epping Forest with the ambient sounds left in, along with some gentle music as well. The tough wood of Hornbeam trees (Carpinus betulus) have been used for mill wheel cogs, skittles, pulleys, rollers, cattle yokes, chopping blocks, skittles and piano parts. It has a close grain and also makes a good fuel and charcoal. More information about this species can be found here on the wonderful Woodland Trust website.
